Gulf migrations: moving Tally and Zoho books without breaking the VAT trail

The Gulf stack

Across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, the working stack is Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks and increasingly Xero. Businesses outgrow one and move to another — and since VAT arrived in 2018, every one of those moves carries a compliance question that did not exist before: does the VAT trail survive?

Why the VAT trail matters

FTA and ZATCA expect historical returns to remain supportable. A migration that dumps balances and archives the detail leaves you unable to explain a past filing from inside your live system. A proper conversion carries the coded transactions themselves, so the history remains queryable where you work.

Tally deserves special care

Tally’s groups-and-ledgers structure does not map one-to-one onto QuickBooks or Xero. Forcing it produces unusable charts. We design the destination chart first, then migrate masters, openings and vouchers into it — reconciled against the Tally trial balance before cutover.
