Tally to QuickBooks Online
TallyPrime and Tally.ERP 9 files converted to QuickBooks Online — the international editions, with GST or VAT codes, multi-currency and your transaction history intact. We work by email, worldwide, and every conversion ends with your Tally trial balance reconciled line by line against QuickBooks.
What moves from Tally, honestly
Comes across cleanly: your ledgers and groups, remapped to a proper QuickBooks chart of accounts · customers and suppliers (sundry debtors/creditors) with opening balances · open invoices and bills with their ageing preserved · bank, cash and loan balances · and your voucher history — sales, purchase, receipt, payment, contra and journal vouchers rebuilt as QuickBooks transactions, for as many financial years as you want to carry.
Needs remapping, and we say so up front: cost centres become QuickBooks classes or locations — similar, not identical · godown-wise stock becomes item quantities (QuickBooks Online tracks locations differently from godowns) · GST/VAT ledgers become QuickBooks tax codes for your country · TDS and other statutory ledgers are carried as accounts with their balances, but statutory filing stays in your local tooling.
Does not convert, anywhere, by anyone: Indian payroll detail (arrives as summary journals) · Tally's audit trail and alteration history (we archive your Tally data so it is never lost) · optional and memorandum vouchers · custom TDL screens and print formats.
The parts that go wrong when this is done casually
April–March financial years are fine — QuickBooks handles any year-end — but the home-currency decision is permanent in QuickBooks Online, so we confirm it before anything is created. Negative stock in Tally has to be resolved, not copied. Multi-currency ledgers must keep each transaction's original exchange rate or your debtor balances will be quietly wrong. And a file that has been split across companies (a new company each financial year, as many Tally users do) can be merged into one continuous QuickBooks company — we do this routinely, and it is usually the single biggest quality-of-life gain of leaving Tally.
How it runs
- Email us your Tally data export or backup (we send exact instructions for TallyPrime or ERP 9 — your team runs two menu commands, nothing more).
- Fixed written quote by email, usually within one business day. No calls required — ever.
- We build and verify the QuickBooks company while you keep working in Tally.
- Cutover: trial balance, debtor/creditor ageing and GST/VAT summaries compared against Tally, matching before you go live. Entries made during the conversion window are captured in a final delta pass.
Most single-company Tally files complete in one to three weeks depending on years of history and file condition.
Questions Tally users ask us
Which QuickBooks edition do we end up on?
QuickBooks Online in your country's edition (Global/India/UK/AU etc.), so GST or VAT features match your jurisdiction. If you are unsure which fits, say where you file tax and we will tell you plainly — including if QuickBooks is a poor fit, which for some Tally workflows it is.
Can you merge multiple Tally companies (one per year) into one file?
Yes. Several years split across separate Tally companies can be combined into one continuous QuickBooks company with unbroken comparatives.
We're not in India — we use Tally with VAT.
Common across Africa, the Gulf and South Asia. VAT ledgers map to QuickBooks tax codes for your country the same way GST does.
Do you need remote access to our computer?
No. A data export sent by email or secure link is all we use.
